Christine Donkin
Christine Donkin is a Canadian composer of pedagogical, choral, and instrumental music. Her pedagogical music is published by the Frederick Harris Music Company in six volumes, entitled Comics & Card Tricks, Legends & Lore, Imprints, Groovin’ Through Christmas, Costume Party, and Get Fiddlin’. Several of these pieces are included in the latest edition of the graded piano examination repertoire series ‘Perspectives’ created by the Royal Conservatory of Music. Christine’s Magnificat (for mezzo soprano solo with ten treble parts) has been performed across North America and in Europe, and is published by the Treble Clef Music Press. In Paradisum, for eight-part choir, won the Guelph Chamber Choir’s 2008 Young Composer Competition, and was a finalist in the Choral Horizons composition competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This composition is currently available from Graphite Publishing along with Christine’s simple SATB setting of In Flanders Fields. Aurora (for eight-part choir with solo viola) was the winner of the 2008 Sorel Medallion’s ‘Conductor’s Request’ award and as such was premiered in New York City at Carnegie Hall, under the direction of Dennis Keene. Christine’s chamber and orchestral music has been performed in Canada, the United States, Europe and South Asia. Christine is currently a private music instructor in Ontario.
