Composer's Biography
Spyros Tsilimparis
Spyros (Spyridon) Tsilimparis was born in the Island of Corfu - Greece, and he began his music education as a child with the local concert band of his village, Scripero. He continued his studies in Athens in both Political Sciences and Music (piano, harmony, counterpoint and composition). He worked on Orff and Kodaly Systems and attended a wide range of lessons and seminars on various music subjects. He is strongly affected by the piano soloist Jenny Protopapa, the piano soloist and conductor George Hadjinikos and the composer Nikos Papadimitriou. At various times, he created and conducted vocal and instrumental ensembles. He has also taught, for many years, in high schools and conservatories and was a member in examinational committees. His compositional work includes pieces of various styles and aesthetics. At present, he is studying in London as a PhD candidate at the University of Surrey.
