Composer's Biography
Youngwoo Yoo
Youngwoo Yoo was born in Seoul on October 4, 1983. She started studying music composition at the age of 15 as a student of Pf. Eugene Lee and Pf. Yongshee Lee. She graduated from Ewha Womans University (BM), and had Master class with Samuel Adler and Matthias Pintscher (2008, 2009/USA). She is now having a Master program with Dr. J Mark Stambaugh in Manhattan School of Music (USA). She earned the 3rd prize in the “1st GMI Major Composition Competition” (2003), the 3rd prize in the “8th & 9th Youth Music Composition Competition” (2004, 2005), the 4th prize in the “37th Nanpa Music Composition Competition” (2005) and the 1st prize in the “Valtidone International Music Compositions - ‘Edigio Carella Composition Competition’” (2006/ Italy), in the “The 6th Henri Dutilleux Music Composition Competition” (2007/France), IBLA Foundation Master Prize - Distinguished musician (2008/Italy), Ton de Leeuw International Competition for Young Composers - Finalist (2008/Albania), and the International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition - Finalist (2009/Greece).
